Week 6: You Got ICED!!

6/19: Well the roommates have started ICEing each other. If you don't know what ICEing is, just Google search it. Here my buddy Mark falls for the old ICE on your desk chair trick. Tsk tsk tsk.

6/20: Your typical moon shot. I'm surprised this turned out as well as it did. I still don't have a tripod, so this was handheld. I'm extremely surprised at just how bright the moon is. Keep in mind this was taken at about 10pm, so it was completely dark out and I used a 1/200 shutter speed. I will try this one again at the next full moon.

6/22: Now that I'm back in the States, I'm in full World Cup Fever. The US plays Algeria tomorrow and if we win, we continue in the cup... Lose and we need some help. I've been playing FIFA like it's going out of style.

6/23: Donovan scores in the 92nd Minute. The US advances.

6/24: I got a flat tire today and unfortunately America's Tire didn't have any of the tire I wanted in stock, so I'm going to be gimping it on the spare for a few days.

Week 5: Sayonara

6/12: Shinjuku Station is the most busy train station in Japan. Our hotel was just down the block from it, this picture was taken on a bridge over the road just outside of the station. I got some decent light trails with this shot, especially considering I was working without a tripod. Its crazy how quickly this begins to feel like home. We grew quite fond of Shinjuku over the course of our stay.

6/13: Today we met up with my old Sensei and her husband. They showed us a bit of the more traditional side of Japan. We went to a traditional Japanese lunch, a shrine, a war museum, an onsen, and lastly dinner at a 400 year old restaurant that Samurai used to hold meetings at. The road outside of the restaurant was the main road in Japan years ago as it connected Tokyo to Kyoto. Sachie and Taishi, we can not thank you enough for your generosity today.

6/14: Back to LA today. I took Brandon on a little tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. This is the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd. We traded lenses for awhile in Hollywood, so this picture was taken with his kit lens. It is much nicer than the non-IS version that I got with my camera.

6/16: The tourism in California continued the last two days. We went to Solvang up near Santa Barbara yesterday. It is a Danish community with windmills and all. Today we went to The Getty and then over to Santa Monica for dinner.

Week 4: Konichiwa

6/5: And the trip begins. We left for Tokyo today and because of the long flight and time zone difference, this was one of the few pictures that I took on the 5th.

6/6: First night in Tokyo. Brandon and I wandered into a little restaurant and were startled to find out that absolutely nothing was in English. After blindly ordering food by pointing at things on the menu, we had fun trying to figure out what we were eating. I took this shot with the help of the timed shutter release and a couple of (clean) ashtrays to prop the camera up.

6/9: This is the famous street crossing in Tokyo that is the busiest in the world. It is right outside of the Shibuya train station and is absolutely flooded with people. When the crossing turned green it looked like a bunch of marbles had been released simultaneously. Pretty nuts.

6/10: This is the gate to one of the most famous temples in Tokyo. We were stoked to finally go to this absolutely massive temple and get to see the inside of it. The only problem... We got there and the entire thing was under construction and we couldn't go in. At least the gate was pretty cool...

6/11: Tonight we went to the New York Bar at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjuku. This is the bar that Bill Murray and Scarlet Johannson frequent in the movie Lost in Translation. The view up here was breathtaking. I also never thought I'd see a five figure bar tab in my life, but theres a first time for everything, right?

Week 3: A New Chapter

5/29: I am now completely moved out of my apartment. It was really strange to see the place completely empty again. It brought back memories of the first week in the apartment, ordering pizza and eating on the ground watching Entourage because I had nothing but a television. I guess it's starting to hit me now that I graduated and am starting a new chapter in life.

5/30: My friend Thomas has this absolutely gorgeous '68 GTO. Unfortunately, it stalled out on PCH late last night, almost killing him in the process. We got under it this afternoon and discovered it's a faulty fuel pump. I suppose that this just proves that German cars are the way to go.

6/1: Wow, June already? I went over to the park near my new house and took some late night pictures. This reminded me of the movie He Got Game with Ray Allen.

6/3: My friend Brandon got in to LA today. We leave for Tokyo in a couple of days... Can. Not. Wait.

6/4: We went to Venice Beach this afternoon and took some shots of the skaters and the crazies. On a side note, I'll be in Japan for the next week and a half, so I may not be updating this for a bit, but I can guarantee some awesome pics once I get back to the States.
